LUDWIGSHAFEN, Germany—BASF A.G. said an explosion, believed to have been caused by excavation work, occurred Feb. 26 at its Ludwigshafen toluene diisocyanate plant.
The company hasn't released any further details about the incident, other than to say it shouldn't affect the construction schedule.
The BASF factory, with a capacity of 300,000 metric tons of TDI, is expected to be finished in 2014
