MISSISSAUGA, Ontario—Continental Tires the Americas L.L.C. has launched a voluntary recall of about 1,700 motorcycle tires, sold primarily in the U.S. aftermarket in 2011 and 2012.
Conti said the tires— ContiMotion size 180/60R16 M/C 74H—under certain conditions may experience uneven wear, groove cracking and in some cases belt lift, which can lead to deflation and a potential loss of control that might cause an accident.
The problems have been observed on rear tires used on Honda Gold Wing 1800 motorcycles, particularly under overloading and/or under-inflation conditions.
The company said it hasn't received any report of accidents resulting from the tires.
