OSAKA, Japan—Toyo Tire & Rubber Co. Ltd. said it will begin producing high-performance plastic constant velocity joint boots at a new plant in Thailand in 2014.
The company said it decided to begin manufacturing the CV boots for automobile drive shaft joints with the aim of global growth and expansion of its Diver-Tech business segment's auto components business.
Toyo already has planned to begin sales of anti-vibration rubber products for cars via its Toyo Rubber Chemical Products (Thailand) Ltd, business, which it set up in December 2011.
The Diver-Tech CV joint boots facility will be built at the Amata Nakorn Industrial Estate, Chonburi Province, Thailand, Toyo said. Production is scheduled to begin in April 2014.
Toyo didn't disclose the cost of the project.
