AKRON—The ACS Rubber Division has adopted the name International Elastomer Conference as the overall title of its annual fall meeting and expo.
"The decision to add a new overall name to the event was made so that it was a simpler, more direct representation of what the event truly is and all that it offers," said Ed Miller, executive director of the association. "It also allows the flexibility to bring on new partners in the future without requiring a change to the overall name of the event."
Under the umbrella name of the International Elastomer Conference, the components of the event will continue to be the International Rubber Expo, Technical Meeting and Educational Symposium, the division said.
The division said it has expanded its resource offerings to encompass the broader elastomeric industry, and decided a new event name would better reflect its mission and vision.
The components of the 2013 International Elastomer Conference—taking place in Cleveland this fall—will continue to be the International Rubber & Advanced Materials In Healthcare Expo, Technical Meeting, Educational Symposium, and Advanced Materials In Healthcare Conference, the division said.
The division's International Rubber Expo and the expanded exhibition that includes the healthcare expo will take place in alternate years, the association said. The first International Rubber & Advanced Materials in Healthcare Expo in 2011 drew more than 4,300 attendees.
This year the division will hold its spring technical meeting in Akron April 21-24, and the fall International Elastomer Conference Oct. 7-10 at the I-X Center in Cleveland.
