LEVERKUSEN, Germany—Lanxess A.G. has completed the creation of an EPDM rubber business unit, named Keltan Elastomers, a month earlier than anticipated.
The company in September 2011 announced it would split its EPDM business from its Technical Rubber Product unit. Lanxess had expected the change to occur in February, but the new unit began doi8ng business as an independent entity on Jan. 1.
The remainder of the Technical Rubber Product business— including polychloroprene, hydrogenated nitrile, ethylene vinyl acetate and nitrile rubber—now is under the High Performance Elastomers business unit.
Lanxess acquired DSM N.V.'s Keltan business in May 2011.
The EPDM business employs about 600 and has plants in four countries.
