NEW BEDFORD, Mass.—The purchase of Acushnet Rubber Co. Inc. by ZD USA Holdings, Inc., a subsidiary of Zhongding Sealing Parts (USA) Inc., has been completed.
Acushnet—which has done business under the name Precix since 2001—is based in New Bedford and produces high-performance sealing parts, primarily for the automotive, aerospace, energy and industrial markets.
Zhongding Sealing Parts (USA) is part of the Anhui Zhongding Holding Group of companies, an international engineered rubber parts manufacturer for automotive and heavy industrial industries with 20 facilities across the globe and more than 11,000 employees.
Strasburg, Ohio-based Zhongding now has five factories in the U.S. Besides the New Bedford and Strasburg sites, it operates Michigan Rubber Products Inc. in Cadillac, Mich.; Buckhorn Rubber Products Inc. in Hannibal, Mo.; and Cooper Products Inc. in Laconia, N.H.
"The investment of (Zhongding Sealing Parts) in Precix speaks highly of what we have accomplished in positioning our company as the most trusted name in fuel seals, o-rings and custom elastomer solutions," said David Slutz, Precix president and CEO. "The acquisition is an opportunity to promote Precix's market position and further our international expansion and brand. Our employees here in New Bedford were what attracted ZD to Precix. They are the finest in the industry."
