SAO PAULO, Brazil—Pirelli Tyre S.p.A. has agreed to be the exclusive race tire supplier to the Brazilian Stock Car Championship, that country's primary motorsport series, for the 2013-2016 seasons.
The move re-establishes a 29-year relationship that lapsed in 2008. Pirelli takes over the race tire supply contract from Goodyear. Financial terms were not disclosed.
The Brazilian stock car championship features space-frame chassis with silhouette body styles from car makers Chevrolet and Peugeot. The style of cars and use of road-racing circuits puts the series more on par with touring car championships run elsewhere than with stock car racing that's prevalent in North America.
