AKRON—Akrochem Corp. is relocating its offices in Akron to a site in suburban Fairlawn to accommodate the need for expanded manufacturing space.
The firm purchased a 36,000-sq.-ft. building in Fairlawn, with office space for 50 employees, the company said. Some of the space will be used by an existing tenant.
The marketer of compounding ingredients for the rubber and adhesives industries, which also manufactures chemical dispersions, cure blends and rubber color dispersions, said the office relocation opens up 15,000 square feet of space at the Akron site, where it has been headquartered since 1946.
Akrochem didn't disclose the cost of the relocation, which a local newspaper report said will take place next spring and summer.
The firm, founded in 1929 and employing 125 overall, will operate four buildings in the Akron area when the move is completed next spring and summer. It also has a 40,000-sq.-ft. facility in Norton, near Akron, that houses manufacturing and a recently renovated laboratory and office space, and a warehouse in Stow, another Akron suburb.
Akrochem also has warehouses in Dallas and Chino, Calif.
