PLYMOUTH, Ind. (Nov. 9, 2012)—Hoosier Racing Tire Corp. has brought on stream an expanded rubber mixing line at its Plymouth race tire plant, completing an $8 million project begun one year ago.
Hoosier officials and local officials gathered Nov. 7 at the plant to cut the ribbon on the line, which will allow the Lakeville, Ind.-based company to bring all of its rubber mixing needs in-house and prepare for projected growth.
The project included expanding the 32-year-old plant in Plymouth by 37,000 square feet. The company has outsourced up to a third of needs in the past, the firm said earlier.
The mixing line was sourced from HF Mixing Group.
The expansion will triple the firm's mixing capacity and is expected to create 16 jobs at the Plymouth plant and four related positions at the firm's nearby Lakeville headquarters. Hoosier employs more than 400 at the two facilities.
