PERSTORP, Sweden (Oct. 16, 2012)—Perstorp Polyols Inc. has invested in its Capa range for thermoplastic polyurethanes, as part of its commitment to meet the growing demand for biodegradable plastics, including polyurethanes.
The market for biodegradable plastics is growing rapidly, driven by consumer demand as well as public regulations and recommendations, Perstorp said.
Capa thermoplastics can be used to optimize the level of degradability and the mechanical properties of bioplastics, the Swedish company said. The biodegradability comes from the unique chemical structure of the Capa polymer that allows it to break down very quickly.
