CINCINNATI (Oct. 11, 2012)—The ACS Rubber Division honored Charles Rader with its Distinguished Service Award during the Business & Awards Meeting at the International Rubber Expo in Cincinnati.
Rader began his career with Monsanto and retired from Advanced Elastomer Systems, which was a joint venture originally formed by Monsanto and ExxonMobil Chemical. He started volunteering with the Rubber Division in 1975 as a member of a local arrangements committee.
Rader since then has served on a dozen committees—chairing six of them—and was elected chairman of the division in 1986 after serving as treasurer, assistant treasurer and Finance and Budget Committee chair.
He has been a member of the Executive and Steering committees since 1981, a councilor since 1990 and was an alternate councilor in 1989. In addition, Rader chaired the Scholarship Committee from 1997 to 2004, and is currently a committee member; chaired the Thermoplastics Elastomers Topical Group from 1990-92; and in 1987 chaired the Nominating Committee and the Science and Technology Awards Committee.
