LESLIE, Mich.—Huron Technologies Inc. offers manufacturers of in-mold-coated and molded flexible polyurethane products a new water-based product —Mold Release Agent 8016 —which it said is designed to help reduce processing costs and increase efficiency.
Robotic spray application of Release Coating 8016 with a low solids output (between 12-18 g/min) results in more parts molded per gallon, making molding processes more cost effective, the company claims.
Huron said the new agent also provides a consistently cleaner mold as a result of less build up on the mold surface. This is thanks to the blend of wax and silicone in the material that keeps mold surfaces
clean longer, allowing more parts molded per cycle, the company said.
Typical PU in-mold paint products which benefit from this new release technology include automotive steering wheels, handles, office furniture and interior trim components, Huron said.
