WASHINGTON (Oct. 1, 2012)—American Honda Motor Co. has added 573,147 vehicles to a May recall of Honda and Acura vehicles because of a power steering hose problem.
Certain Acura TL vehicles, model years 2007-2008, and Honda Accord V8 vehicles, model years 2003-2007, are being recalled, for a total of 625,762 vehicles, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The cars may suffer premature deterioration of their power steering hoses, resulting in cracks, power steering fluid leakage and possible engine fires.
Honda began notifying vehicle owners in the original recall last June. It will contact owners of the newly recalled vehicles starting Oct. 26, and replace the power steering hoses free of charge when it has a sufficient supply, probably in early 2013, the company said.
