ROTTERDAM, Netherlands (Sept. 10, 2012)—Emerald Kalama Chemical L.L.C. is building a facility to manufacture what it said are environmentally friendly materials at its plant in Rotterdam.
The facility, due to become operational in the third quarter of this year, will be housed at the plant Emerald acquired from DSM NV in 2010.
“With the acquisition of the Rotterdam facility, expansion in Europe is a logical choice for us,” Edward Gotch, president of the Kalama, Wash.-based company, said. “Such expansion enables us both to address the market's needs and to capitalize on our ability to integrate the new operation with other key feedstocks manufactured at the Rotterdam site and add capacity as needed to support growth.”
Emerald has made a “multimillion-dollar commitment” to the plan, he said.
The K-Flex line of non-phthalate plasticizers are designed for applications such as vinyl flooring, coatings, adhesives, sealants and caulks.
Emerald Kalama is a division of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio-based Emerald Performance Materials L.L.C.
