LEVERKUSEN, Germany (Sept. 5, 2012)—Lanxess A.G. is building an EPDM synthetic rubber plant in Changzhou, China, for more than $296 million.
Calling it the world's largest EPDM facility, the company plans to start up the operation in 2015. It's expected to have capacity of 160,000 metric tons annually and create up to 200 jobs in China.
“We are strengthening our global EPDM asset base with a world-scale plant in China to serve our local customers even quicker with premium products,” said Lanxess CEO Alex C. Heitmann.
The Changzhou site will also be the location for a Lanxess leather chemicals plant, currently being constructed and expected to come on stream in the first half of 2013.
