ARDMORE, Okla. (Aug. 23, 2012)—Michelin opened its new Ardmore Family Health Facility at its tire manufacturing plant there to support the health and wellness of its employees.
The facility, which will employ 12 medical professionals, is designed to offer the more than 2,000 Michelin employees at Ardmore the tools and resources they need to maintain a healthy lifestyle, according to the company.
“When developing our Choose Well-Live Well Program, one of the key reasons cited by our employees for not pursuing adequate preventive and follow-up care was inconvenience,” said Wayne Culbertson, executive vice president of personnel for Michelin.
Established through a partnership with Walgreen's Take Care Health Systems, the facility will have extended and weekend hours to help employees find a time that is suitable for them. The company expects more than 4,000 visits to the facility its first year.
Michelin's original health center is housed at the firm's North American headquarters in Greenville, S.C. That center exceeded its four-year projection for visitors in its first year, the company said.
