NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Aug. 21, 2012)—General Motors Co. has picked the Bridgestone ultra-high-performance Potenza RE97AS tire in a 20-inch size as the standard OE fitment on the 2013 Cadillac XTS Platinum Collection luxury sedan.
Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations' said the Platinum Collection is the highest level package available on the XTS. The Nashville-based tire maker added that the same tire also is an optional upgrade on the Premium Collection version of GM's new flagship vehicle in the Cadillac passenger car lineup.
The Potenza RE97AS underwent more than two years of development prior to being released, according to Bridgestone. The tire, in size P245/40R20 95V, “was specially designed to deliver a quiet ride while also exhibiting the handling characteristics, traction capabilities and improved fuel economy now expected from today's luxury sedans,” the company said.
The Potenza RE97AS, made in Bridgestone's Wilson, N.C., plant, is V-speed rated. It will be launched on a wider, replacement tire basis in 2013, the company said.
