GUANGZHOU, China (Aug. 17, 2012)—China's Ministry of Agriculture is supporting a series of measures designed to expand the nation's natural rubber cultivation and processing capabilities.
In a detailed five-point plan, the ministry outlines a number of initiatives it supports aimed at increasing the country's NR yield and quality.
The five points cover:
— Setting up a nursery and improving the supply of seedlings and clones;
— Promoting eco-tactics to improve yields;
— Improving tapping efficiency through training and mechanization;
— Improving yields through better use of fertilizers; and
— Reducing the tapping frequency.
The ministry's statement, posted by the China Rubber Industry Association, went on to note that the nation's Guangdong Land Reclamation efforts to strengthen the seedling bases has invested more than $500 million in creating a rubber nursery base in Maoming, Zhanjiang Province, including greenhouses and supporting facilities.
