PANAMA CITY, Panama (July 27, 2012)—Tire Group International L.L.C. has secured an exclusive distribution agreement from Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. for the Mastercraft tire brand for two years throughout Central America and the Caribbean.
As part of the agreement, which runs through December 2014, TGI will provide marketing and sales support for Mastercraft in the form of product promotions and dealer training, Cooper said.
Orlando Delgado, senior vice president of sales and marketing for TGI, said, “TGI has a longstanding and successful alliance with Cooper Tire. Our entire organization is excited about the opportunity to grow the premium Mastercraft brand throughout the region.”
Phil Caris, vice president of sales for Cooper, said the new agreement is a “natural extension of our existing relationship with TGI. With their base in Miami and knowledge of Central America and the Caribbean, TGI is well positioned to provide existing and future customers an opportunity to expand market share with Mastercraft in these regions.”
TGI also will act as a fill-in distributor for the Cooper brand in the Caribbean, allowing customers in the region who buy direct from Cooper the benefit of a quick source of supply when required.
Financial terms of the deal, disclosed at the 2012 Latin American & Caribbean Tyre Expo in Panama City, were not disclosed.
This is the third new distribution deal TGI announced during the show; the others are with Alliance Tire Group for the Galaxy brand and Tireco Inc. for the Geostar, Geotrac and Milestar brands.
