WASHINGTON (July 24, 2012)—Truck manufacturer Navistar Inc. is recalling a small number of International LoneStar trucks , model years 2010 and 2011, for possible wheel defects.
The wheels in those trucks may develop cracks in the hand-hole sections of the spokes. The resulting corrosion and fatigue may eventually cause wheel failure and separation from the vehicle, Navistar told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The schedule for wheel replacement is based on the availability of repair parts, which cannot be determined at this time, Navistar said. If the final remedy is not available by Sept. 1, Navistar may mail an interim notification letter to truck owners, it said.
