AKRON—Shin-Etsu Silicones of America, a subsidiary of Shin-Etsu Chemical Co. Ltd., has premiered its KF-6004 Multi-Functional Care Additive.
The KF-6004 is a white, high purity, odorless, water soluble silicone wax that delivers
perceivable sensorial properties, leaving treated surfaces with a soft and silky feel, according to the company.
Shin-Etsu presented the additive at the 2012 New York Society of Cosmetic Chemists Suppliers' Day event.
The KF-6004 features an ABA chemical architecture that combines polyether and a large silicone block to deliver an optimal surface orientation, according to the company.
The hydrolytically stable, polyether modified silicone is designed to enhance performance benefits for a wide array of cosmetic formulations including hair care, skin care, color cosmetics and personal cleansers, Shin-Etsu said.
The additive is water soluble and provides the combined benefits of foam booster, detackifier, moisturizer, texturizer and stabilizer, amongst others.
