CHANGSHU, China (June 15, 2012)—Daikin Industries Ltd. is building fluoro-rubber capacity in Changshu, China. It was originally scheduled to come on stream in January 2013, but local reports suggest that it may be delayed until mid-year.
The company said in July 2011 that it will build capacity with an investment of about $38 million. The Changshu pant will be the third pole for Daikin after its plants in Settsu, Osaka and Lyon, France.
Daikin said demand has grown since 2012 and is expected to continue growing through at least 2015.
Daikin said the investment will take its share in China to 30- to 40-percent by 2015, from the current figure of 10 percent.
A report on the CRIA website said the project is due on stream in June 2013, and is part of a broader fluorine chemical expansion in Changshu.
