AKRON (May 24, 2012)—The ACS Rubber Division is moving its major exhibition and technical conference to the new Medical Mart & Convention Center in downtown Cleveland in 2015.
Called the International Rubber Expo & Advanced Materials in Health Care event, the show and the 188th technical meeting and educational symposium for the Rubber Division are relocating from the Cleveland International Exposition Center. The division held its major expo and meeting at the IX Center in 2011 and will return there in 2013.
The organization said its intention is to hold the major Rubber Expo every two years in Cleveland, and the contract with the Medical Mart & Convention Center includes options to hold the show there in 2017 and 2019.
The division said it also is considering holding future expositions at the IX Center. The association has a smaller exhibition in alternate years, and will hold its next one this fall at the Duke Energy Center in Cincinnati.
Last year's conference and exhibition at the IX Center drew 4,300 attendees, and used 54,000 square feet of exhibit space, the division said. It was the first time the group added biomedical materials to its format.
