AKRON (May 2, 2012)—All markets within the silicone industry are expected to not only recover from the recession, but also grow through 2016 and beyond, according to a study of the U.S. Silicone market released by Freedonia Group.
Kent Furst, the organization's polymers senior analyst, gave a presentation outlining projected growth within each sector during the International Silicone Conference in Akron May 1.
Besides the general growth as a result of exiting the recession, Furst said silicones will blossom even more because of other materials continually being replaced with silicones across various markets.
The two-day conference had 180 attendees, up 65 from the last event in 2010. The event was organized by Rubber & Plastics News, Wacker Silicones and Shin-Etsu Chemical Co. Ltd.
