VENICE, Italy—ExxonMobil Chemical Co.'s John Lyon has been elected president-international of the International Institute of Synthetic Rubber Producers, succeeding Antonio Protopapa of Polimeri Europa.
Lyon is global vice president for butyl at ExxonMobil Chemical.
He was named to the IISRP post during the institute's 53rd Annual General Meeting, held April. 16-19 in Venice, and will preside over the group's meeting next year in San Francisco. He also will be president of the Americas Section.
Protopapa, commercial director of polymers for Polimeri Europa, served as host of the IISRP's Venice meeting, and now becomes past-president international.
The organization of most of the world's synthetic rubber producers named 12 other members to its Executive Committee for 2012-2013. They are:
* Far East Section. Wang Yuqing of Sinopec, president; Hideyuki Sugishita, Ube Industries, vice president.
* European Section. Ignacio Marco, Dynasol, president; Mikhail Gordin, vice president; Abraham Brink, Karbochem, standing member.
* Americas Section. Barton Bowser, Dow Chemical, vice president; Tim Gorman, ISP Elastomers, standing member.
Continuing to serve on the Executive Committee are Protopapa; Wei-Hua Tu of TSRC, who is IISRP treasurer; and James L. McGraw, IISRP managing director, CEO, assistant treasurer and secretary.
