TOKYO (April 4, 2012)—Bridgestone Corp. said it will set up a division to make urethane, foamed rubber and precision electronic components in Kaiping, Guangdong Province, China.
The unit, to be called Bridgestone (Kaiping) Diversified Products Co., will employ about 400 people.
Bridgestone said the increased capacity is designed to meet the growing demand for these products in the Chinese market.
Production at the facility is expected to begin in the second half of 2013.
Through this additional capacity, Bridgestone aims to strengthen its supply position and more rapidly respond to customer demand for high-quality urethane, rubber foam, and precision electronic components. Demand for these products in the China market is projected to grow over the medium-to-long term, the company said.
