AKRON, Ohio, (March 23, 2012)—Two associates from Goodyear's Slovenia subsidiary will travel to Nashville, Tenn. to compete in the international Ergo Cup Competition as part of the 15th Applied Ergonomics Conference.
Janko Gorjanc, Goodyear Dunlop Sava Tires' health, safety and ergonomics manager; and HSE specialist Primo Mali will present a specially designed cart developed to prevent injuries and minimize risks to tire builders from heavy lifting and bad posture, the company said.
“Being part of the competition is a great recognition for the company and recognition of its commitment to health and safety of our associates, said Roger Tynes, Goodyear's ergonomics and systems project manager.
Goodyear said it has an aggressive ergonomics program to reduce the number of injuries that result from strains, sprains, inflammation of tendons and back pain. The company said it uses ergonomic teams to identify and prioritize risks; and works to eliminate high- and medium-risk jobs and tasks that can result in injuries.
