ALBANY, N.Y. (March 21, 2012)—Global MDI consumption is expected to reach 6 million metric tons in 2016 from 4.6 million tons in 2011, growing at an average of 5.5 percent, according to a new market report.
The report, called 'Methylene Diphenyl Diisocyanate Market: Global Market Analysis, Size, Share & Forecast (2009 - 2016),' published by Transparency Market Research, also predicts that Asia Pacific is expected to maintain its lead position in terms of revenue with 37.4 percent of global MDI market share in 2016 followed by Europe.
The largest application segment was rigid foams, which accounted for 56.1 percent of the global MDI market revenue in 2011. The segment is expected to grow at an average of 6.2 percent from 2011 to 2016, according to the report.
The adhesive and sealants sector will have a growth rate of 6.2 percent from 2011 to 2016, according to the report, while flexible foams will grow by 5.2 percent from 2011 to 2016 to a market value of $1.1 billion in 2016.
