AKRON (March 12, 2012)—The Association for Rubber Products Manufacturers has agreed to join Rubber & Plastics News and Polymer Machinery Co. in co-organizing the Aug. 14-15 International Rubber Molding Conference in the Akron suburb of Fairlawn.
The ARPM's participation at the event will help bring the molding conference's technical program to the association's members, according to David Zielasko, RPN publisher and a Crain Communications Inc. vice president. The ARPM, founded in 2010, is the successor to the Rubber Manufacturers Association's Elastomer Products Group, the non-tire members of the now tire-only RMA.
The conference at the Hilton Akron/Fairlawn Hotel in Fairlawn, Ohio, will feature a number of presentations focusing on key application and manufacturing issues. Among the subjects will be: injection runner technology and research; electric actuation valve gate control for cold runners; how to succeed in the competitive molding environment; performance materials; rubber feedstock projections; properties of rubber compounds devulcanized using HSM technology; and an introduction of batch mixing of polymeric compounds
Jim Chiofolo, Polymer Machinery vice president of technology, sales and marketing, is the conference chairman and will work with the ARPM in soliciting potential papers for the conference.
“We want to make the conference beneficial in the scope and range of the technical information provided by key industry professionals so that when each of our delegates return to work they will be able to manufacture rubber molded products more profitably, effectively and efficiently,” said Chiofolo.
The event will include table-top exhibits from suppliers to the molding industry, as well as networking opportunities.
Charlie Braun, ARPM president and president of Custom Rubber Corp., said the association is looking forward to working with its partners on the event.
“ARPM was founded on providing key benchmarks, best practices, and networking to the industry and feel this event is a good fit with our mission,” he said.
The conference registration fee is $350 for rubber product manufacturers and $750 for suppliers. Registration also provides a set of conference tech papers, lunch and a networking reception on Aug. 14.
ARPM members will receive a $95 discount on the full conference registration.
Conference registration and, hotel reservations—at a special room rate—can be accomplished at www.rubbernews.com/conferences/2012/rubber-molding. Prospective authors also can contact Chiofolo at that address, by e-mailing [email protected], or calling 330-633-5734 ext. 217.
