SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (March 12, 2012)—Federal-Mogul Corp. CEO Jose Maria Alapont will retire at the end of the month, the company said.
Alapont will be replaced by Rainer Jueckstock, current senior vice president of the Southfield-based supplier's powertrain energy business unit. Jueckstock also will join the company's board of directors April 1.
Alapont, who became CEO in 2005, will remain with Federal-Mogul in a consulting role and remain on the board through 2013, according to a release.
Before joining Federal-Mogul, Alapont was CEO and a board member of Turin, Italy-based Iveco, the commercial-vehicle manufacturing arm of the Fiat Group. He also served in various positions, many of them executive titles, at Delphi Corp., the French supplier Valeo SA and Ford Motor Co.
Federal-Mogul also announced that it is creating an independent aftermarket powertrain and safety division. Its aftermarket division as a whole generated $2.3 billion in revenue last year.
