HAMBURG, Germany (March 9, 2012)—Marangoni S.p.A. has approved $2.6 million in investment for its Marangoni Retreading Systems Deutschland to double capacity for Ringtread tread rubber production at its plant in Hamburg.
The investment will cover adding a second “Alpha Ring” production line at the former Ellerbrock GmbH plant in Hamburg, taking annual production to about 4,500 metric tons, according to Matthias Leppert, managing director of the German subsidiary.
Doubling capacity will allow Marangoni Retreading Systems Deutschland to supply all the German-speaking markets, Scandavia and Eastern Europe, Leppert said.
With the Alpha Ring technology, the ring-molding process is controlled by integrated software that manages every phase, from extrusion of the raw rubber directly into the molds, to building the finished ring, allowing a continuous cycle without operator intervention, Marangoni said.
The latest investment was preceded last year by the addition of a second rubber mixing line at the plant designed to boost mixing capacity by about 50 percent.
