HARRISBURG, N.C. (Feb. 17, 2012)—The RACEceiver Legends Car Series—a racing series featuring 5/8-scale replicas of 1930s/'40s-vintage American cars—has renewed its tire supply pact with Taiwan's Federal Corp. for the 2012 season.
Federal has been the Legend's spec tire supplier for the past two seasons. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Kris Perry, U.S. Legend Cars official, lauded Federal's “race-inspired” 595 ultra-high-performance tire for its sharp response, precise steering and high-level cornering.
Legend race cars—scale replicas of Chevrolets, Dodges and Fords from the '30s and '40s—are powered by 1,250-cc Yamaha motorcycle engines and race primarily on oval tracks throughout the Southeast. They run on size 205/60R13 radials.
Legend races are scheduled at more than 200 tracks throughout the U.S.
Taz Yeh, project manager of Federal Motorsports, said supplying the Legend Series is a “key global platform for Federal Tire in boosting the image of our premium brand to develop and prove our products and technical expertise on the world stage.”
Manufactured by U.S. Legend Cars Inc. and sanctioned internationally by INEX Corp., the Legend Cars have become one of the fastest-growing segments of motorsports. INEX estimates there are more than 3,500 Legends cars in existence.
The Legends series features four divisions: Pro for experienced drivers; Masters for drivers 40 years and older; Semi-Pro for novices; and Young Lions for drivers ages 12 to 16.
