CARPINTERIA, Calif.—Helix Medical Inc. has named a new leader for two of its manufacturing operations and also received a contract for its silicone tubing.
Part of Germany's Freudenberg Group, Carpinteria-based Helix has named Ward Sokoloski vice president and general manager of its manufacturing sites in Baldwin Park, Calif., and Shenzhen, China. He previously worked in engineering, supply chain, plant management and senior leadership positions at Covidien P.L.C., formerly Tyco Healthcare.
“Adding Ward to the Helix Medical team further strengthens our ability to meet the diverse needs of our customer base,” said Jorg Schneewind, Helix president and CEO. “He will use his broad experience to meet our customers' technical, quality and supply chain requirements.”
The company also announced it will supply silicone tubing to the PharmBIO Products business unit of W.L. Gore & Associates Inc. Gore will use the tubing in single-use assemblies for its global pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical customers.
Ken Parker, Gore global sales leader, said the collaboration will allow his firm to expand efforts on its Sta-Pure pump tubing, fluid sampling system and molded tubing assemblies.
Helix Medical makes silicone extrusion products in the U.S. and Europe, and will open a facility in Costa Rica in this year's first quarter. The firm said its facilities all are ISO 13485 certified and that extrusion takes place within Class 8 cleanrooms.
