PRAGUE, Czech Republic (Feb. 9, 2012)—Agricultural machinery maker Claas GmbH & Co. has selected Mitas A.S. as its supplier of the year for 2011 for innovation for developing its CHO tire.
When used on Claas combines, the tire carries heavy loads and provides low soil compaction while keeping the vehicle's overall width within 3.5 meters, Mitas said. Such narrow combines don't need escorting during road transport, according to the company.
Mitas won the award from among 900 serial parts suppliers, according to Jens Steinhardt, Mitas key account manager. The tire maker developed the tire in cooperation with Harsewinkel, Germany-based Claas.
