SINGAPORE (Feb. 7, 2012)—Sumitomo Chemical has begun construction of a 40,000 metric ton capacity solution styrene-butadiene rubber plant in Singapore.
Construction, following land reclamation at the site, should be completed by June 2013, the company said, and the facility should go on line the fourth quarter that year.
Sumitomo is working on plan to build another plant because demand is forecast to increase for SSBR, used in tire manufacturing.
