NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Jan. 27, 2012)—Bridgestone Americas is reviving the Firestone “Fuel Fighter” trademark from the 1970s for use on rolling resistance-optimized Firestone-brand tires for original equipment and replacement markets.
Used during the OPEC-driven fuel crises, the Fuel Fighter mark indicates those tires have been designed to improve a vehicle's fuel efficiency by use of advanced compounds and optimized structure and tread design, Bridgestone said.
Bridgestone Americas started using the mark last year on its Firestone Affinity line for OE fitments on the Toyota Camry and Honda Civic, according to Michael Martini, president, OE, U.S. and Canada Consumer Tire Sales Division.
