WASHINGTON (Jan. 4, 2012)—Phillip the Tire, official mascot of the Rubber Manufacturers Association's “Be Tire Smart—Play Your P.A.R.T.” tire safety program, has announced he will seek the presidency in 2012.
The theme of Phillip's campaign will be “America Needs Inflation”—proper tire inflation to make motorists safer, conserve energy and save money.
“I will fight to the finish to boost inflation for all Americans,” Phillip said in an RMA press release. “No one knows the benefits of inflation better than me.”
Phillip pledged to kick off his campaign in New Hampshire in time for the Jan. 10 primary there, followed by campaign appearances across the U.S.
