PARIS (Dec. 22, 2011)—Michelin has named Pascal Couasnon, who worked in the U.S. twice during his 24-year career with the tire maker, director of its competitions department, succeeding the retiring Nick Shorrock.
Couasnon, 50, currently is director of technical and scientific communication in Michelin's communications and brands department. Shorrock, who has headed the competition department the past couple of years, retires on April 2, 2012.
Couasnon, a chemist by training, joined Michelin in 1987 as a test engineer, working for Michelin as a test driver at the firm's research center in Ladoux, France, before becoming manager of the on-vehicle test department in Greenville, S.C.
Couasnon then returned to France as European product marketing director, and also was in charge of sales in the Netherlands before becoming passenger tire director for the firm's Asia-Pacific zone, based in Singapore.
He was marketing director, small tires business unit, for Michelin North America Inc. from July 2003 to 2010.
