FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Dec. 22, 2011)—Raymond Meyers, former owner president and CEO of Imco Inc. in Huntington, Ind., died Dec. 18 after a short illness.
After starting his career as a city planner in Phoenix, he returned to Huntington in 1963 to work for his father, who was one of the founders of Indiana Molding Co., known as Imco. Meyers worked as an engineer and eventually became CEO and majority owner of the company. He retired in 2009 when the assets of Imco were sold to BRC Rubber & Plastics Inc.
Meyers was active in the Rubber Manufacturers Association and the Fort Wayne Rubber Group.
Dale Hawkins, a onetime Imco president, said Meyers developed relationships with both customers and vendors. “He was extremely well-liked by all of his employees both personally and as the 'boss,' ” Hawkins said.
Meyers is survived by his wife, Janet; daughters Lynn (Vince) Mattina and Margo (Nelson) Concepcion; son Richard; three grandchildren; stepmother Charlotte Meyers; and two stepsisters.
