PAWTUCKET, R.I. (Dec. 14, 2011)—A worker was seriously injured Dec. 8 in an accident at Teknor Apex Co.'s manufacturing plant in Pawtucket.
The injury resulted in the amputation of one of the worker's hands. Officials said the worker was a 20-year-old man and that the accident occurred between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. Further details were unavailable. The accident is being investigated by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
“We are deeply saddened by the injury this worker has suffered and are doing all we can to support him and his family,” Teknor President Jonathan Fain said in a statement. “Our thoughts and prayers are with them.”
One production line was shut down after the accident, but overall production was not impacted, officials said. Pawtucket-based Teknor makes compounds based on a variety of resins at its 77,000-sq.-ft. complex there. The firm has annual sales of more than $600 million.
