WASHINGTON (Dec. 12,2011)—Ford Motor Co. is recalling 128,616 Ford Fusions and Mercury Milans, model years 2009-11, because of wheel studs that may fracture during vehicle operation.
The vehicles were built between April 1 and April 30, 2009, and between Dec. 1, 2009, and Nov. 13, 2010, Ford told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Multiple stud fractures may occur in the wheels of these vehicles, causing vehicle vibration and possibly wheel separation, Ford said.
Ford will replace the lug nuts on all four wheels free of charge, and also inspect rear brake disc surfaces and replace them as necessary, the company said. The recall will begin on or about Jan. 24, 2012, Ford said.
Meanwhile, owners of the recalled vehicles may call the Ford Customer Relationship Center at 866-436-7332.
