McLEAN, Va. (Dec. 9, 2011)—Science Applications International Corp. said it has has won a contract from the Defense Logistics Agency to provide supply chain management of land and aircraft tires used by customers in the U.S. Armed Services and Foreign Military Sales.
The single-award, indefinite delivery-indefinite quantity contract begins immediately, according to SAIC. It has a five-year base period of performance with a two-year option and an estimated value of more than $1 billion if the option is exercised, the company said.
Under the contract, SAIC will provide supply chain management services including forecasting, procurement, inventory management and worldwide distribution of military aircraft and ground tires. SAIC also will be responsible for managing the U.S. Air Force's tire life-cycle cost program and its supply of retreaded aircraft tires, as well as scrap pickup, recycling and disposal.
