NOKIA, Finland (Nov. 28, 2011)—Nokian Tyres P.L.C. is cutting heavy truck tire production and staff to adjust for weaker demand.
The firm said its Nokian Heavy Tyres division is reducing its shift schedule and enacting layoffs and possibly personnel cuts. The changes will affect about 100 production 15 white-collar workers.
Nokian said the production adjustments should start in January and February 2012, and continue until further notice.
The company will negotiate the employment changes with its 260-person staff at Nokian Heavy Tyres, as required by Finnish law, Nokian said.
The tire maker said its passenger tire division has seen no weakening in demand, and expects to report improved sales and operating results for the year.
