INDIANAPOLIS, (Nov. 23, 2011)—A Nov. 22 rally of 2,000 protestors against a state Republican drive to pass “right-to-work” legislation in Indiana included about 700 members of the United Steelworkers union.
USW District 7 Director Jim Robinson said elected legislators should focus on removing barriers to economic recovery and job creation instead of partisan attacks designed to weaken the unions.
“We already know that right-to-work is bad for workers and bad for the economy,” Robinson said. “Our members and their families are educated and mobilized around this critical fight.”
The protestors included USW members from Ohio, Wisconsin and other regions. The union membership includes rubber workers.
