DRACHTEN, Netherlands (Nov. 10, 2011)—Dunlop Conveyor Belting (Europe) plans to spend $8.7 million on new equipment, products and improved service at facilities in the Netherlands and elsewhere.
Dunlop Conveyor Belting (Europe) is part of Fenner Dunlop Conveyor Belting Worldwide, the world's leading conveyor belt manufacturer.
The Fenner Dunlop Conveyor Belting Worldwide operating said it will invest $3.4 million in the first phase of the project with a press installation at its Drachten, Netherlands, factory. The press will produce rolls of up to 4 meters, or 13 feet, in diameter.
Director of production, Michiel Eijpe, says that the press will be at least twice as efficient as current presses.
“We urgently need to improve our capacity, particularly our ability to make more 800 to 1,400 mm wide belts,” said Michiel Eijpe, the firm's director of production. “Increasing capacity also means that we can further reduce lead times for our customers, which will give us yet another edge over our competitors.”
The company will add to the factory in a second phase. It also plants to expand its Dunlop Service Centers.
