AKRON (Oct. 31, 2011)—Rubber & Plastics News and Polymer Machinery Co. Inc. are scheduling a technical conference for rubber molders after a four-year hiatus.
The International Rubber Molding Conference Aug. 14-15, 2012, at the Hilton hotel in the Akron suburb of Fairlawn, Ohio. Jim Chiofolo, vice president of technology, sales and marketing for Polymer Machinery, will be the conference chairman, and will develop the program.
The technical conference will be a comprehensive event aimed at senior managers, manufacturing engineers, plant managers and plant supervisors, research and development personnel, compounders and quality assurance supervisors involved in the molding of rubber products, said David Zielasko, RPN publisher and vice president of Crain Communications Inc., owner of the publication.
“We want to make the conference beneficial in the scope and range of the technical information provided by key industry professionals so that when each of our delegates returns to work they will be able to manufacture rubber products more profitably, effectively and efficiently,” he said.
Besides paper presentations on specific application and manufacturing issues, the event will include table-top exhibits from suppliers to the molding industry, as well as networking opportunities.
Among the topics under consideration in the 1½-day program are innovative rubber mixing ideas, new performance materials, injection runner technology and research, additives and ingredients, testing and vision inspection, electric actuated valve gate technology, feedstock and market trends, reinforcement materials and applications, materials adhesion, nanocompounding, transitioning from thermoplastics to thermosetting elastomers and international markets.
“It will be a forum in which much needed information can be shared to increase the industry's knowledge base,” said Polymer Machinery President Kendall Ashby.
