TOKYO (Oct. 24, 2011)—Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd. said its new eco tire concept BluEarth and studless tire for trucks and buses, the ZEN 903ZW, each have received design awards from a Japanese organization.
The Good Design Award was presented to Yokohama by the Japan Institute of Design Promotion.
BluEarth is Yokohama's concept for eco tires with good environmental performance combined with the universal design of “being environmentally, human and socially friendly,” the Japanese company said in a 24 Oct announcement.
The tires are designed to achieve high levels of fuel efficiency and safety, and to reduce tire maintenance.
The ZEN 903ZW was developed to promote recycling via retreading through improved casings; long life through improved wear resistance; and fuel efficiency through reduced rolling resistance
