HANOVER, Germany (Oct. 24, 2011)—ContiTech A.G. said it has launched an expansion of production capacity at its headquarters plant in Hanover-Vahrenwald.
The facility, run by the ContiTech Air Spring Systems division, manufactures air springs for commercial and rail vehicles and industrial applications. ContiTech said the new project represents a multimillion-dollar investment, and further spending is expected as demand rises.
The expansions should be implemented by 2013, and will bring more jobs to the 1,800-employee staff at the factory. ContiTech said 200 positions have been added at the site since early 2010.
“We are strengthening the existing expertise and positioning the location for a successful future,” said Plant Manager Konrad Muller.
The Hanover-Vahrenwald operation is installing new production machines, expanding existing equipment and building up the material preparation, ContiTech said. Construction of a new raw materials building is expected to begin soon.
