CLEVELAND (Oct. 11, 2011)—Starlinger North America Inc. unveiled the Maplan Cool Drive technology for rubber injection molding during the 2011 Rubber Expo.
Company officials said the cool drive technology provides 70 percent cost savings in energy costs. The technology uses a variable-speed asynchronous motor pump and uses little or no water for the cooling process. The equipment produces less noise and reduces production time by about 20 percent, according to the company.
A company spokesman said the equipment has a higher cost than similar machines, but has a payback advantage in energy savings in about 18 months.
