LANCASHIRE, England (Oct. 10, 2011)—Rubber-coated fabrics manufacturer Cannon Tri-laminates plans to relocate to a larger building that will increase its manufacturing capacity by more than 30 percent.
The Lancashire-based company was in the middle of expanding its existing facility when the news came that Sainsbury's, a United Kingdom supermarket chain, had bought the industrial estate on which Cannon operated, and planned to redevelop it as a grocery store.
“We only had two years left on our lease here and Sainsbury's were buying the land so we came to a deal with the landlord to relocate,” said Duncan Cannon, owner of Cannon Tri-laminates. “The new premise offers more space and more modern facilities.”
The relocation to the site 3½ miles from the current location will begin in November and take four months to accomplish, so as not to disrupt production, Cannon said. The current staff will continue with the company, and the owner said the firm probably will be hiring more employees in the future.
